Synergistic Collaboration

The application of Integrative Alexander Technique, musicianship, and performance and communication skills powerfully supports musical collaboration. Whether you need a pianist to collaborate with or your group seeks guidance as you prepare for performance, Matt can help you craft powerful, shared musical narratives that transform the listener.

Matt regularly gives Kinetic Muse workshops at chamber music programs and teaches courses in collaborative piano at the university level. He has been performing with fellow musicians since he was 13 years old, in that time mastering much of the standard repertoire for piano with voice, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, and French horn, as well as piano trios, quartets, and quintets. He was featured in the inaugural concert of the Auburn Symphony Chamber Series and has appeared frequently with myriad performing ensembles such as Pacific Northwest Ballet, Northwest Boychoir, East-West Virtuosi, Battery Street Trio, Expanse Ensemble, Goodrich-Harrington Piano Duo, and Lucia Neare’s Theatrical Wonders. In the realm of musical theater, he has been involved in several pre-Broadway world premiere productions as well as a Broadway national tour. In six seasons with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, he has served as pianist/conductor for eight highly acclaimed productions.

He was national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (Young Artists Division) and Young Keyboard Artist Association competitions. In 2018, he performed several all-Debussy recitals across the U.S. in honor of the centenary of the composer's death. He has appeared as soloist with the Syracuse Symphony, University of Washington Symphony, UW Wind Ensemble, Victoria Festival Orchestra, Seattle Thalia Symphony, Willamette Valley Symphony, and others.

Matt holds a large repertoire of solo music, chamber works, and concerti, with a recent focus toward French and 20th-century repertoire.
He is self-managing and available for select concert performances.
